Last year, thanks to your support, we were able to donate $2,000.00 to the Susan F. Smith Center for Women’s Cancers at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston as a direct result of your support! We are hoping to surpass this amount this year and are asking you to help spread the word about our Pink Patch Project, expanded this year to include a limited number of pink "K-9" Unit patches as well as our regular Pink Patch!
The Hingham Police Department is proud to continue our official partnership with the Pink Patch Project, a collaborative cancer awareness fundraiser in partnership with almost 200 police agencies across the country. The goals of this project are: 1) increase education about the importance of early detection and prevention 2) raise funds to further research, treatment, and care of those who are or have battled cancer.
Through the month of October, participating police agencies sell their pink patches with all profits going to cancer treatment, research and education. All proceeds from the sales of the Hingham Police Pink Patches will be donated directly to the Susan F. Smith Center for Women’s Cancers at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston.
During October, which is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, uniformed personnel are allowed to replace their standard shoulder patch with the Hingham Police Pink Patch as a reminder of our commitment toward raising awareness among those we serve.
The commemorative Hingham Police Pink Patch and K-9 Pink Patch are $10 each. They can purchased all year 24/7 at the Police Department front desk, at Police Records, or by mailing a check payable to Hingham Police, Pink Patch Project, 212 Central Street, Hingham, MA 02043.
