Man To Be Charged After Damaging Parked Tesla

Hingham, MA – A 50 year old Weymouth man is being charged for vandalizing a Tesla parked in a Hingham parking lot last week. 

On April 1, 2025 a man came to the police station to report his car had been vandalized while it was parked in the Derby Street Shops parking lot earlier in the day. The owner said he noticed his 2021 Tesla Model Y had been scratched along the drivers side front, rear door and rear quarter. He said due to vandalism to other Tesla vehicles he recently started activating the cars onboard security video system. 

The cars video showed a man park his car in a space near the Tesla. The driver then walked by the Tesla with an item in his hand and reached out and “keyed” or scratched the drivers side as he walked past it. Following an investigation, Officers identified the driver of the car. He is being summonsed to Hingham District Court on the charge of Vandalizing/Defacing Property. His arraignment date has not yet been set. His name is not being released because he has not been arrested or arraigned. ### Contact P.I.O. Lt. Steven Dearth
