[ARCHIVED] Man Walks Out of Store Carrying Clothing In Front of Police Car

Hingham, MA- A man walked out of a store carrying $4,500 worth of clothing directly in front of a passing cruiser. The man dropped the clothing and ran but was arrested a short distance away. The man was also had two outstanding warrants for his arrest. 

On Friday, November 21, 2019 at 8:20pm Officer Brian Fernandes was driving in a marked police cruiser through the Derby Street Shoppes. As he neared the Lululemon store a man walked out the front door carrying armfuls of clothing. The clothing was not in a bags and was still on hangers. The man saw the cruiser and immediately began walking in a different direction. When the Officer asked the man what he was doing, he hid the clothing behind a planter and began running. After a short foot pursuit the Officer found the man hiding between two parked cars. The Officer drew his Taser ordered the man to come out between the cars and he was arrested without incident. 

The clothing, which included 25 pairs of pants and 4 jackets, totaled $4,552. The clothing was held together by large plastic zip ties that the man had put around the clothing before he carried them out of the store.   

The man, David P. Tracy, age 36, of 67 Cleverly Court, Apt. #3, Quincy, MA was charged with Larceny Over $1,200. He also had two default warrants for his arrest from the Quincy District Court (one for Assault With a Dangerous Weapon and Resisting Arrest and one for Assault and Battery. He was released after posting $200 cash bail to appear at Hingham District Court on November 12, 2019. ### Contact PIO Sgt. Steven Dearth
