Police are investigating an incident where a
student brought cookies containing marijuana to school and distributed them to
several other students.
On
January 11, 2018, Officers were sent to the South Shore Educational
Collaborative School at 75 Abington St. for a report that five students had
consumed cookies at school which contained marijuana. The cookies were
allegedly given to them by another student. The students, ages 16-17, were evaluated
by a school nurse who believed the students were under the influence of
marijuana.
The
parents of the five students involved were contacted. None of the teens
involved required medical attention but one teen was transported to a hospital
by ambulance for another issue. No charges have been filed at this time. The incident
remains under investigation. (Contact P.I.O. Sgt. Steven Dearth).
