[ARCHIVED] Overnight Restaurant Break In

Hingham, MA – Police are investigating a break into a South Hingham restaurant that occurred Sunday morning.

On September 16, 2018 at 6:15am Officers were sent to the Scarlet Oak Tavern on Main Street (Route 228) after employees arriving for work discovered the restaurant had been broken into. Officers found the alarm wires outside had been cut and entry was made by removing several cinder blocks from the basement. An office door had been forced open and attempt was made to open the safe. The suspect(s) were not able to open the safe and it unclear what was taken.

This remains under investigation. If you noticed any vehicles or people in the area (near Whiting Street (Route 53), and Queen Anne’s Corner in Norwell) Sunday between 12:45am-6:15am please contact Det. Daniel Leary at 781-741-1443.
